THE OPPORTUNITY

Investment in Long-Term Delivery Independence

NBK Academy, the learning function of the National Bank of Kuwait’s Bahrain operations, required a complete, industry-aligned banking curriculum for its flagship Executive Management Programme. The existing materials were theoretical, slide-heavy, and lacked the experiential depth needed to connect classroom learning to real-world banking.

Beyond the content gap, the bank had a structural challenge: it needed to own its delivery. Relying on external facilitators for every cohort was neither scalable nor sustainable. A robust train-the-trainer solution was essential to ensure the programme could be deployed across multiple annual cohorts with consistency and independence.

The ask was both a curriculum and a capability. Design the programme. Then build the people who can deliver it.

THE SOLUTION

The Curriculum and the Capability, Designed Together

Emile Woolf Middle East designed a complete modular banking curriculum and delivered an intensive train-the-trainer programme, leaving NBK Academy with both the content and the internal capability to run it independently. The experiential methodology transformed passive theory into practical skill development across all core banking functions.

Modular Banking Suite

Custom modules covering Foundations, Corporate, Retail, Treasury, and Risk with full gamified toolkits, facilitator guides, real-world case studies, and digital simulations.

Experiential Methodology

Transformed passive theory into practical skills using Disruptive Experiential Facilitation and Enterprise-Driven Learning (EDL), connecting classroom content to real-world banking decisions.

7-Day TTT Journey

Delivered an intensive facilitator development programme covering adult learning principles, engagement techniques, managing learner challenges, and coaching. Internal experts became certified facilitators.

Technical Mastery Training

Deep-dive sessions for internal experts on facilitating complex banking simulations and role-plays.

THE PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

Design, Build, Certify & Enable

Phase 1

Capability Mapping

Consulting with NBK stakeholders to align modular content with specific bank-wide strategic priorities. The curriculum was designed around what the bank actually needed to develop.

Phase 2

Content Design

Building a comprehensive suite of slide decks, facilitator guides, real-world case studies, and digital simulations across all five banking modules.

Phase 3

Facilitator Certification

Conducting a 7-day TTT programme focused on mastering delivery, landing key messages, and managing learner challenges.

Phase 4

Enablement and Rollout

Providing job aids and reflection tools to ensure internal trainers were fully equipped for sustainable, independent delivery.

The Impact: A Curriculum the Bank Delivers Itself

NBK Academy gained a full banking curriculum, and the people to run it.

  • Self-sufficient delivery: a certified internal trainer pool now delivers the programme independently.
  • Graduates ready for the floor: the focus moved from theory to applied skills across core banking functions.
  • A partnership that grew: from graduate curriculum to Qiyada, a five-module leadership programme.
