THE OPPORTUNITY

Building the Leadership Infrastructure Behind a High-Potential Pipeline

Ecolab, a global leader in water, hygiene, and infection prevention, had something many organisations spend years trying to create: a pool of high-potential professionals with strong technical foundations and genuine ambition. The opportunity was to build the leadership layer on top of that foundation before those people looked elsewhere for it.

The business was growing in complexity. The decisions being made at every level were becoming more strategic, more cross-functional, and more consequential. That required leaders who could do more than execute well. It required leaders who could think across the business, influence without authority, and navigate ambiguity at pace.

The organisation also needed something scalable. Not a one-off workshop for one cohort, but a repeatable, consistently excellent leadership development model that could run year after year and compound its value over time.

THE SOLUTION

A Customised Leadership Accelerator, Built to Run at Scale

Emile Woolf Middle East designed and delivered a customised end-to-end Leadership Accelerator, running across five consecutive years and five successive cohorts. The programme was not adapted from a catalogue. It was built around Ecolab’s specific talent profile, business context, and leadership development goals, then refined after each cohort to compound what worked.

Psychometrics and Leadership Modules

Each cohort began with structured assessment, building self-awareness as the foundation before moving into influence, strategic thinking, and leadership identity. The content was calibrated to the commercial realities Ecolab’s emerging leaders were actually navigating.

Coaching and Applied Business Projects

Participants worked in small teams on a live business challenge across the journey. Projects were presented to a senior panel at programme close. This was real work, with real stakes, and real visibility.

The Emile Woolf Middle East Leadership Challenge

A capstone experience designed to surface leadership under pressure: collaboration, problem-solving, and executive presence tested together, in the room, in front of peers and leadership.

THE PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

From Self-Awareness to the Senior Panel

Phase 1

Leadership Foundations

Assessment and core leadership curriculum. Building readiness, communication, influence, and strategic thinking. Participants understand where they are before being asked to move.

Phase 2

Applied Leadership in Action

Project-based learning and coaching embedding behavioural change through real business challenges. The learning leaves the room because it is tied to something that matters.

Phase 3

Executive Readiness Showcase

A final leadership challenge showcasing growth, executive presence, and execution capability. Presented to a senior panel. The cohort closes having been tested, not just developed.

The Impact: A Pipeline That Compounds

Every cohort leaves Ecolab with stronger leaders and a delivered business result.

  • Projects with real stakes: every cohort delivers a strategic business project tied to Ecolab’s priorities, presented to senior leaders.
  • Leaders who move up: early-cohort participants were in senior roles before later cohorts finished.
  • Trusted beyond the Accelerator: functional offsites for Ecolab’s HR, Procurement, Supply Chain and Downstream teams.
