Transforming a Consulting Curriculum From Passive Slides to Case-Driven Learning

3
Curriculum Levels

Designed: 101 (core understanding), 201 (real-case application), and 301 (strategic leadership).

90 Min
Modular Format

Flexible, facilitator-ready, and deployable across analyst to partner levels.

Spiral
Learning Design

Ensuring consistency and increasing complexity at each level, avoiding repetition.

THE OPPORTUNITY

From Foundational Knowledge to Strategic Leadership

Deloitte’s Middle East practice required a coherent consulting development pathway for levels ranging from Analysts to Partners. The existing 101-level materials were facilitator-intensive, slide-heavy, and limited in practical engagement. What should have been a foundation was functioning as a ceiling.

Repetition across module levels created duplication risk: foundational content was being recycled at higher levels rather than evolving in complexity. The firm needed a development architecture that progressed with the consultant, not one that reset each time.

The opportunity was to rebuild from the ground up: a modular, scalable curriculum that integrated with Deloitte’s internal competency framework and transformed passive instruction into applied, experiential learning that stuck.

THE SOLUTION

A Spiral Learning Architecture Across Three Levels

Emile Woolf Middle East designed a complete consulting curriculum architecture across three levels, converting passive content into high-impact applied learning through Enterprise-Driven Learning (EDL), grounded in neuroscience and behaviour change principles. Every module was built to be facilitator-ready for internal rollout.

Experiential Methodology

Converted passive content into high-impact applied learning using EDL. Participants engage with real consulting challenges rather than observing theory.

Modular & Scalable Content

Designed flexible 90-minute modules covering core consulting skills, provided as a comprehensive suite of facilitator-ready materials deployable across all levels.

Level-Based Tailoring

A clear pathway from core understanding (101) to real-case application (201) to strategic leadership (301). Complexity increases; repetition does not.

Spiral & Strategic Design

Implemented a spiral learning model using real-world Deloitte case simulations to ensure mastery and reinforce the firm’s consulting identity across the journey.

THE PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

Diagnose, Design, Build & Enable

Phase 1

Diagnostic Phase

Audited existing 101 modules to map learner load, duplication, and requirements for experiential redesign. The problem was understood before the solution was built.

Phase 2

Design and Development

Created end-to-end experiential modules aligned to Deloitte’s capability framework and outcomes across all three levels.

Phase 3

Experiential Build-Out

Developed stakeholder role-plays, data storytelling labs, and spiral learning touchpoints embedded throughout the curriculum.

Phase 4

Pilot and Enablement

Refined modules through test deliveries and provided train-the-trainer sessions for internal rollout across the Middle East practice.

THE IMPACT: A Curriculum That Grows With the Consultant

By transforming technical content into a deeply experiential journey, the programme delivered stronger consulting capability across all levels. The spiral learning design ensured consistency across the pathway, allowing Analysts and Partners alike to advance their craft using a shared framework. The transition from passive slides to case-driven design resulted in higher engagement and provided Deloitte with a scalable, ready-to-deliver suite of materials for long-term internal use.
